Reliable digital technology by HAKKO - Introducing the HAKKO FX-888D

Excellent thermal recovery

  • (Please select your colour choice in the dropdown, watch for stock levels as we sometimes dont have many in stock!)
  • Heater output has been increased by 30% compared to that of the conventional models HAKKO 936/937. Also FX-888D delivers excellent thermal recovery by using T18 series tips for their terrific heat conductivity.
This allows soldering at a lower set temperature and reducing the thermal impact on components as well as tip oxidation that can shorten tip life.
  • Thermal recovery graph
Rise time to 350°C is 20 seconds faster and tip temperature drop is reduced during continuous work.

Able to shorten the time required for the same work and improve work efficiency significantly.

Designed to be User-Friendly

  • Small footprint
Compact station body requires a space of only 100 (W) x 120 (D) mm. What's more, points that come into contact with the floor are positioned as close to the outer edge of the body as possible to improve stability and make the station difficult to fall over.
  • Simple and easy operation
With only two operation buttons of UP and ENTER in the center, operation is simple and easy. Even if you're not familiar with operation of machines, you can operate it without difficulty.
  • Iron holder with full of functions
An iron holder of the same color of a soldering station comes as a set. The highly functional iron holder not only improves ease of use, but also brings a sense of visual consistency to the work environment.

Excellent product

I had a 120v model when I was in the US and upgraded it for 240v when I moved back to USA. I had gotten by for 20+ years with conventional soldering irons, but was never truly satisfied with the work I did with them. I eventually decided to check out the FX-888D and took the plunge. I really can't say enough good things about it - the difference from my old iron is unbelievable. The control and precision thanks to the digital feedback, combined with its rapid heating means you can do good work at speed. Yes, it is a lot of money, but the reward is definitely worth it.

Excellent soldering iron
Monday, 14 November 2016  |  Andrew

I was a bit annoyed with fixed-power soldering irons getting rather too hot, but it was manageable for through-hole components. Then I had to solder some surface-mount switches to repair a car key fob and the disaster of a lifted solder pad happened.

Off to EEVBlog I went, and a few YouTube videos later I was convinced that a proper temperature-controlled soldering iron was required.

The Hakko FX-888D is fantastic. I successfully soldered the tiny little switches. It also has enough power to solder large connectors without freezing or overheating the solder. The supplied stand is cast metal and fits the very comfortable to use iron perfectly. The designer even had enough pride in his work to put his signature on the base unit.

I got a Hakko T18-D24 tip for it (elsewhere) too because the supplied small conical tip (T18-B) isn't ideal for everything.

I highly recommend this soldering station.

I've had many irons and stations in the past and always had to make do. So I decided to treat myself to one I have wanted for a long time. This one is absolutely brilliant. I do not have any regrets for mypurchase. The quality is outstanding. This company supplied my machine and delivered it the next day.Paul

Great first soldering iron
Wednesday, 8 July 2015  |  Darren

I am totally new to the world of electronics, and have no experience when it comes to soldering.I wanted to buy something that was easy to operate, but also had the ability to do more advance work as my skills improved. After reading many reviews, i settled on this unit from Proto-PIC. It is a great iron.

After years of screwing around with cheap Irons I started to look for a decent one. I found the Hakko to be the best fit but there was a problem, it's pretty hard for a hobbyist to get hold of in the UK. I don't know if the friendly people from Proto were reading my mind but they got hold of them and they are genuine irons. Very happy

HAKKO's reputation is well deserved; superb build quality, reliability and performance - worth every penny

Hakko distributers in the UK are something of a rarity, which is a shame because the Pro Spec Solder station market is awash with dubious Chinese manufactured clones purporting to have Hakko heaters and Sanyo MPC thermostatic contollers etc. Yes they're cheap, but there is a reason. These units from Proto-PIC are the real deal and a good price
