Round and round and round they go! 16 ultra bright smart LED NeoPixels are arranged in a circle with 1.75" (44.5mm) outer diameter. The rings are 'chainable' - connect the output pin of one to the input pin of another. Use only one microcontroller pin to control as many as you can chain together! Each LED is addressable as the driver chip is inside the LED. Each one has ~18mA constant current drive so the color will be very consistent even if the voltage varies, and no external choke resistors are required making the design slim. Power the whole thing with 5VDC (4-7V works) and you're ready to rock.

There is a single data line with a very timing-specific protocol. Since the protocol is very sensitive to timing, it requires a real-time microconroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. It cannot be used with a Linux-based microcomputer or interpreted microcontroller such as the netduino or Basic Stamp. Our wonderfully-written Neopixel library for Arduino supports these pixels! As it requires hand-tuned assembly it is only for AVR cores but others may have ported this chip driver code so please google around. An 8MHz or faster processor is required.

Comes as a single ring with 16 individually addressable RGB LEDs assembled and tested.

Way brighter than expected!

So I ordered these thinking they'd be perfect for a halloween prop and they were! Much brighter than expected but they are easily controllable for colour and brightness so that wasn't an issue. Like the other reviewers say make sure you read the uber gu

More fun than the stick but read the UberGuide first.

I'd had great fun with the 8 LED 'stick' version and invested in the ring, which is even more fun making the lights whizz round and round. It is very easy to set up but the new documentation requires a couple of extra components, a 470 ohm resistor and

Minutes after receiving this bright bit of kit it was illuminating my project beautifully. Super bright and easy to use, it is a must in any project.Unfortunately if you do not solder your connections to the LED's and use a bread board developing it, yo

amazing and easy to use, just make sure to get a 1000uf capacitor with it, I burned out one (possibly because of ignoring this...)

Shiny!

Works brilliantly in one of my wearables projects, in which I discovered there's enough space for a Trinket to fit in the middle, keeping things neat. I'm also using one as a ring light for macro / close-up photography.

GOOD PRODUCT MINOR PROBLEMS
Monday, 27 January 2014  |  Alvin

The product works great and is easy to use. The only issue I have is that with the units I purchased, have several decouple capacitors that are standing up on one leg. Device still functions so I did not return them as I needed them for a project.

Outstanding!

The build quality of these is amazing and the Adafruit library makes them incredibly easy to use. I popped one into the lid of an empty white plastic vitamin pill tub with a tiny45 to drive it and a micro USB breakout for power. Turn upside down and you h
